Tim Asher, MD

Tim Asher, MD
Residency Class of 2018

I was born in Seattle, and raised across the water in Poulsbo.  Growing up in the woods and waters instilled an appreciation for the fabulous forests and waterways of the northwest.  I moved to Tacoma to study biology and chemistry at the University of Puget Sound, where I also maintained a piano scholarship and minored in music.  Despite an eye towards medical school, I worked as a carpenter in Seattle and some non profits in Tacoma while traveling and exploring for a few years.

A few months after getting married, we picked up and moved to Australia where I matriculated as a medical student at the University of Queensland.  Two years of mostly pre-clinical training in Brisbane was followed by clinical training at Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, UQ’s clinical school in the states.  I was always drawn to general training, and am thrilled to be part of the excellent culture of family medicine back home.

Outdoors, I enjoy hiking, skiing, gardening, soccer, and every sport with a racquet.  Indoors, I enjoy the piano, guitar, percussion, building furniture, and board games.

Post graduation, I am starting my practice in the Tacoma area of Washington.
