Pronouns: He/Him
Hometown: Dallas, TX
Medical School: University of Texas

Hi, I’m Leon! My family immigrated from China when I was 3 years old, and I grew up in the northern suburbs of Dallas. There, I attended university and received my B.S. in biochemistry as a first-generation graduate at the University of Texas at Dallas. I decided to pursue medicine because of my mom, who has a medical condition. Throughout high school and college, I was her advocate, explaining doctors’ diagnoses and helping her navigate the healthcare system. This experience inspired me to help others navigate the complex healthcare system and providing them with support and care.

During my time at the Long School of Medicine in San Antonio, TX, I discovered my passion for family medicine. I realized I enjoy simplifying complex medical terminology, explaining test results in simple terms, and making patients feel comfortable. I was particularly drawn to my family medicine faculty and the opportunity to help patients through primary care, prevention, and education. Outside of class, I led mentorship programs for both medical students and high school/undergraduate students. I also took part in community service opportunities, such as volunteering at the refugee health clinic and providing Hepatitis education to the San Antonio AAPI community. I am excited to start the next step in my medical career at Valley FM!

In my downtime, I love walks, swimming, and journaling. My partner and I share a passion for hiking, exploring new restaurants and boba shops, and traveling together. At home, I cherish moments with my cat, Lucky, who occasionally joins me on walks. I also enjoy singing along to my guitar or ukulele, sketching, cooking Chinese dishes, and catching sports with friends.
