Michael Case, DO

Pronouns: he/him
Hometown: Lafayette, LA
Medical School: Nova Southeastern University

Hi there!

My name is Michael Case. I’m a Cajun creation, born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana where I first fostered my love for being a part of a community. I hopped over the river to Mississippi College for undergraduate studies in pre-med and exercise-science/nutrition. During this time I wore many hats between collegiate competitor for golf and bass fishing, bodybuilder, athletic trainer, yoga instructor, and Volunteer. Graduated and tried on more hats as a medical scribe, nurse assistant, English teacher, and after school D&D game master. All of these experiences guided me to the right place as I went back to Mississippi for my master’s in biomedical sciences, then medical school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

My love for community involvement flourished in South Florida as I sought to cook and care for my neighbors at local health fairs and gatherings. I was also privileged to lead in research regarding effects of social determinants of health on heart disease. This was also when I found my home in Family Medicine, during my first time working at an HIV primary care clinic. Since, I have been the utmost fulfilled in getting a chance to engage in care and conversation with all the patients I can. During my 4th year, I finally had the chance to make it out to the PNW for 6 months of rotations. My sister had lived here for years prior and showed me the amazing sights and people that my partner and I hoped we would one day get a chance to be a part of.

I am thankful for all the experiences and people who shaped and helped me to arrive here at Valley Family Medicine. I hope to grow my interests in medicine for community health, HIV primary care, and providing equitable care for marginalized and under-represented communities. I look forward to meeting and working with you!

Please feel free to ask me about my giant dogs, Odin and Aegir. Or I am happy to nerd out about my passions – like Dungeons & Dragons, Cajun cooking (really cooking all kinds of food), weightlifting,

hiking, woodworking, writing, skiing, golf, basketball, and renaissance festivals.
