Kelly Herbig, MD

Pronouns: She/Her
Hometown: Seattle, WA
Medical School: Creighton University

I grew up in a small town in south central Minnesota, where I was surrounded by great full spectrum family medicine doctors who were exceptional role models and mentors. I attended St. Olaf College with the intention of pursuing a career in family medicine. I majored in Biology and was active in student government, intramural and club sports and music.

Following graduation, I spent a year working at a free clinic in a church basement in Milwaukee, WI. I was fortunate to work with and learn from inspiring healthcare professionals who were dedicated to their patients and went above and beyond to serve their community. In medical school, I was able to participate in a rural longitudinal curriculum during my year of clinical rotations, which provided me with the opportunity to follow the medical care of the same patients and families at recurring visits over the ten months of the program. Although I had already developed rapport with my own healthcare providers as a patient, this longitudinal clinical experience solidified the importance of comprehensive care and long-term patient-provider relationships from the perspective of the family doctor.
