Jon Woo, M.D., C.A.Q.

Family Medicine / Sports Medicine

Jon joined the VFM faculty in 2008.  He previously held appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine with the Medical College of Georgia and Mercer University School of Medicine and served as faculty with the Southwest Georgia Family Medicine Residency, Albany, Georgia where he was assistant director of its Sports Medicine fellowship program.  Originally from Los Angeles, Dr. Woo graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (AB, English) and Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia.  He completed his residency in Family Practice at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Shadyside Hospital; Sports Medicine fellowship at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia; and a Faculty Development fellowship at USC Keck School of Medicine.  Along the way he also practiced full-spectrum Family Medicine with the Indian Health Service in Shiprock, New Mexico.  His academic interests include further understanding the relationship between exercise and optimal health.   In his spare time he directs a high altitude running camp with elite Kenyan distance runners in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
