I grew up on a farm in Western Kansas before moving to the East Coast to attend Mount Holyoke College. I played on the varsity tennis team and designed a major in Biochemical and Nutritional Studies. After college I moved to San Francisco to begin a job working on the business side of medicine at a boutique biotechnology-consulting firm. While the work was interesting and challenging, I decided I did not want to live life in front of a PowerPoint deck and began a job running clinical trials in breast oncology at the University of California, San Francisco.
Eventually I moved to Denver and began working at the University of Colorado, running clinical trials in gynecology oncology. I returned to the ponderosa to attend the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Here, I was very active in medical education and curriculum development. I was drawn to family medicine because of the broad-spectrum possibilities for practice and the continuity of care with my patients…you can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl!
I am most interested in medical education and women’s health. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. In my spare, spare time I enjoy running, triathlons and tennis. Also, I make a tasty pie!
