J. Kristofer Sherwood, M.D.

Family Medicine

Kris graduated from Whitman College in 2000 with a degree in Chemistry-Biology.  After college, he worked as a camp counselor, athletic trainer, research scientist in genomics, and volunteer English teacher in China before attending Dartmouth Medical School in New Hampshire.  After medical school graduation in 2009, he moved to Seattle for residency training in family medicine at the University of Washington, graduating in 2012.  Following residency, he completed a one-year fellowship in global health, then worked at a community health center for four years before joining the Valley Family Medicine residency faculty in 2017.

Kris enjoys working with patients of all ages and from all walks of life. He practices full-spectrum family medicine with special interest in obstetrics; cervical cancer prevention; immigrant, refugee, and international medicine; travel medicine; sports medicine; and most office-based procedures.  He also has worked to support the organization Village Health Works, which operates a health center and various educational and community development programs in Burundi (East Africa).

In his free time, Kris enjoys spending time with his wife and doing just about anything outside and active, including hiking, skiing, cycling, running, and climbing.  He also enjoys playing the guitar and piano (poorly) and photography.
