Eddie Espanol, MD

Eddie Espanol
Residency Class of 2013

I was born and raised in Seattle, WA, graduating from Garfield High School.  I am happy to be back in the Puget Sound region, giving back to the community, after so many years.  I received my undergraduate degree from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, CA and medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, OR.  In between, I spent time doing research in environmental fluids, living in Japan teaching English, and working at Swedish Hospital in Seattle as an administrator for the Newborn Screening Program.

I enjoy Family Medicine because I relish in the opportunity to work with people of all ages and backgrounds.  I hope to provide compassionate care by developing long lasting relationships with patients.  I believe a strong relationship and understanding will help us work together to form the best care management plans.  I have been a tireless volunteer working with the homeless, refugees and medically underserved.  My interests in medicine include:  sports medicine, childhood obesity, palliative care, HIV medicine and addiction medicine.

Having completed an addiction medicine fellowship, I now practice in the Tacoma area.

When I am not in the hospital or clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, playing soccer and Rock Band.  I am a huge fan of Seattle sports teams.  I also hike in the summer and snowboard in the winter.  I hope to complete a triathlon in the future.
