Pronouns: She/her
Hometown: Seoul, S. Korea | Federal Way, WA
Medical School: Univ. of Texas – Southwestern
I’m originally from South Korea and moved to Washington when I was in elementary school. I grew up with my close-knit family in Federal Way, WA before making my way south to Portland, OR for undergrad. I was motivated to pursue medicine having been a caretaker for my mother and being grateful for the supportive relationships from her physicians that made her recovery possible.
I studied Biology at Reed College, becoming fascinated with microbiology. In between medical school and college, I also obtained a Master’s, served as an AmeriCorp member providing diabetes education, worked as a Happy Baker and as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
Needless to say, I have always enjoyed trying new things and learned to love family medicine for its variety as I started medical school at University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. I’m excited to return home to the PNW to continue my training. I’m interested in learning more about addiction medicine, outpatient procedures and infectious diseases during residency.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy cooking and hiking with my husband (who is also a FM doc!) and being incredibly overwhelmed by the delicious food scene in Seattle. I also love practicing yoga and am currently teaching myself how to sew!
