Angela Sarkissian, MD

I grew up in a family of musicians in Sheridan, Wyoming.  Unlike my more-talented sibling, I preferred to shove my violin far beneath my bed when it was time to practice.  This was significantly harder to do with the piano.  It became clear early on that a career as a concert pianist or even a street musician was not in the cards. Fortunately, I discovered my interest in medicine during high school while shadowing a local OB-GYN doctor.    I attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin where I continued to play violin while I earned my B.A. in biology.  I was accepted to the University of Washington School of Medicine through the WWAMI program and graduated with my M.D. in 2009.  I first discovered my passion for family medicine during my third year of medical school while I was on my family medicine rotation at Valley Family Medicine.  I was impressed with the attendings’ breadth of knowledge, compassion for patients and satisfaction with their professional path.  Inspired, I returned as a fourth year medical student for a sub-internship and by this time, Valley already felt like home to me.

After returning to practice family medicine back in my home state of Wyoming for a few years, my family and I decided to relocate to Minnesota, where I now have my practice.

My interests within family medicine include inpatient medicine and urgent care.  In my life outside of medicine, I enjoy reading a good book with a cup of bubble tea and spending time with my family.
