Jan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Cell Biology from the University of Washington in 1979. She graduated from the University Of Washington School of Medicine in 1983 and did her Family Medicine Residency training at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Soon after residency she joined the faculty of the then brand new Valley Family Medicine Residency, where she has worked for the last 24 years on and off in various capacities – including serving as Associate Director. Jan has also completed the Faculty Development Fellowship at the UW, served as faculty at Providence St. Peter Family Practice residency and worked in private practice and at Group Health of Olympia. She currently works part-time, spending the remainder of the time caring for her handicapped daughter and her 2 teenaged sons and traveling with her husband as time allows. She also enjoys watercolor painting, sea-kayking and is an avid reader. Jan’s professional interests include maximizing the doctor-patient relationship, colposcopy and women’s health and caring for the developmentally disabled.
